Gone Fishing for Kids Tournament Rules

1. Participants and Eligibility:

  • Participation is open to all anglers 18 years of age and older. Any person entering a Gone Fishing for Kids tournament under the age of 18 must have the signature of their parent or legal guardian in the provided space on the official entry form.
  • A team will consist of one or two anglers per boat; all contestants must have a valid fishing license.

2. Entry Fee/Payout:

  • Entry fee shall be $150 per team, which includes entry into the Big Bass pot. One Big Bass will be awarded each day of the tournament.
  • 100% payout with first place money guaranteed, all other payouts based on 150 entries (1 place per 10 boats) as follows:

    1st – $10,000 (Guaranteed)
    2nd – $2,500
    3rd – $1,500
    4th – $1,200
    5th – $1,000
    6th – $800
    7th – $700
    8th – $650
    9th – $600
    10th – $550
    11th – $500
    12th – $450
    13th – $400
    14th – $350
    15th – $300

    Big Bass Day 1 – $500
    Big Bass Day 2 – $500

  • All ties will be resolved by splitting that place and the next place’s money.
  • Contestants may be subject to a polygraph exam before checks and prizes are distributed. Contestants must pass the polygraph exam at tournament site to receive prizes and or prize money.

3. Registration/Tournament Hours:

  • Gone Fishing for Kids 2010 is limited to the first 150 teams that register.
  • Registration online is encouraged and will be available at www.gonefishingforkids.com. Entry forms mailed in must be postmarked no later than Friday, October 15, 2010.
  • At least one team member must attend a pre-tournament meeting Friday, October 22, 2010 at River City Grille in Marble Falls.
  • Tournament hours will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm each day. You may be on the water before 6:30 am but may not make your first cast until 6:30 am.
  • Contestants may launch from any ramp on Lake LBJ; trailering is allowed.
  • Teams must have one member check-in at the official check-in point by 3:00 pm each day. Teams not checked in by 3:00 pm will not be allowed to weigh their fish.
  • It is the angler’s responsibility to get the official time from the Tournament Director.

4. Permitted Fishing Methods:

  • Contestants may fish anywhere on tournament waters accessible by boat, except areas designated as “off limits” or “no fishing” by state or federal officials.
  • Only artificial baits may be used. No live or cut bait is permitted (pork baits and Berkley Gulp are permitted).
  • All bass must be caught alive in a legal and sporting manner. No snagging.
  • Each competitor may only use 1 rod at a time. No more than 1 line in the water at a time per angler.
  • Trolling with the combustion motor is not permitted.

5. Scoring/Live Fish/Weigh In:

  • Gone Fishing for Kids 2010 is a two day cumulative weight tournament. The team with the heaviest two day total will be declared the winner.
  • A limit of five bass (largemouth, smallmouth, Guadalupe/spotted) may be weighed in per team each day. No team may have more than the tournament limit (5 bass) in the livewell at any time during the tournament except during the short timeframe of culling a fish.
  • All fish must be a minimum of 14”; short fish presented for weigh-in will result in the loss of that particular fish and a one pound penalty.
  • There will be a one pound fish care penalty for each dead bass presented for weigh-in. Culling of dead bass is prohibited.
  • No fish will be weighed that has been kept on ice or is pale-gilled.
  • Fish must be weighed in official weigh-in bags. Bags will be limited in order to avoid a bottleneck at the weigh-in tanks.
  • Day one weigh-in will be at McNair Park in Sunrise Beach on a first-come, first-serve basis. Day two weigh-in will be at River City Grille in Marble Falls; all contestants weighing fish will trailer to the restaurant after check-in.

6. Sportsmanship/Safety:

  • Each contestant is required to wear a fastened (fully zipped and/or all clips fastened), U.S. Coast Guard approved, personal flotation device anytime the combustion engine is in operation until weigh-in.
  • Consumption and/or possession of alcoholic beverages or any mind altering substance during tournament hours extending through the weigh-in procedure is prohibited.
  • All contestants are required to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation.
  • Safe boating must be observed at all times.
  • Tournament days may be shortened, canceled or otherwise modified due to unsafe weather or any conditions that would endanger the safety of the competitors at the Tournament Director’s sole and absolute discretion.

* Decisions of the Tournament Director are final and are not subject to appeal. Interpretation of these rules will be left exclusively to the Tournament Director.

* All participants expressly assume all risk(s) associated with each tournament event and hereby release, indemnify and hold harmless Gone Fishing for Kids, River City Grille, Texas Tournament Zone, all sponsors and tournament officials from all claims or injury and/or damage arising out of, or related to and/or incurred in connection with Gone Fishing for Kids 2010.
